Dear Sugar Hill parents,
Welcome to Sugar Hill Elementary School's website! It is my great privilege to serve you and your students as the principal of Sugar Hill. I am looking forward to a promising school year and welcome opportunities to meet and work with you and your children throughout the 2017-2018 school year.
Sugar Hill Elementary is one of 23 elementary schools in the Moreno Valley Unified School District. Sugar Hill is a diverse school with approximately 560 students in Transitional Kindergarten through Fifth grade. Our campus is located in Sunnymead Ranch residential community and possesses a small neighborhood feel as students, staff, parents, and the surrounding community partner together to ensure the educational success of all of our students. Our school colors are blue and green and our school mascot is Shadow, the dragon.
Moreno Valley Unified District teachers and support staff are dedicated to preparing its' students to become college and career ready by providing a quality education for all children. Our goal is to offer your children the best possible education in a positive and safe learning environment. Our staff encourages it students to hone in on their use of problem-solving and critical thinking skills to become creative and independent thinkers with strong moral character.
As a staff, we strategically focus on student learning and provide many opportunities for our students to increase their academic performance through high expectations, comprehensive programs, interventions, and effective teaching. Technology is a focus at Sugar Hill. We integrate technology into the core curriculum to extend learning beyond the classroom. Individual chrome books and a computer lab is readily available for students to utilize to enhance their learning on a daily basis. Classrooms are equipped with wireless access and many of our classrooms have SMART boards.
Sugar Hill takes great pride in establishing an atmosphere that invites its valued stakeholders to be a part of the educational process. Throughout the year, parents are provided many opportunities to participate in the education of their child. We welcome your attendance at school events and encourage your participation by volunteering in the classroom or by joining our Parent Teacher Association (PTA), English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC), African American Parent Advisory (AAPAC) or School Site Council (SSC) and other various committees. Communication and teamwork are of utmost importance at Sugar Hill. I hope you find our site to be a useful and informative resource to stay connected to your child's school throughout the school year. Please take time to peruse it, and check it frequently for important updates. In addition to our website, school information is made available to our families through our school website, phone messages, and the school marquee. Our school office hours are 7:30 - 3:30 pm.
