Sugar Hill Elementary School

Digital Dragons

Digital Dragons are a team of fourth and fifth grade students who prove themselves to be technologically proficient. Each student went through a three step application process: a Google Form application, parent and teacher recommendation, and an interview with Mr. Tran, IT Analyst II,  and Mrs. Kaplan, Teacher.  Once students are hired, they proudly wear a Digital Dragon badge so that all students and staff can identify them. Digital Dragons have monthly after school meetings with Mrs. Kaplan and Mr. Tran to achieve higher proficiency in Google Apps for Education, Coding, common troubleshooting tips, and how to assist others with technology. Digital Dragons assist Kindergarten and Primary Students with MAP testing, Imagine Learning, as well as providing technological support to classrooms. They also assist in their own classroom, as well as ensuring all Chromebooks are up to date on their operating systems, especially for CAASPP. Digital Dragons began at Sugar Hill in 2017-2018 and the team has continued to grow. Students end the year by earning a Certificate of Excellence in Digital Learning, which is awarded at the Student of the Month ceremony, and they get to celebrate at Shakey’s with the principal!
