Welcome to Sugar Hill Elementary—home of the Dragons!
It is truly an honor to serve as the principal of this incredible International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. At Sugar Hill, we are committed to developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring learners who are equipped to make a positive difference in our world.
As a transformational leader with a servant’s heart, my mission is to inspire and empower every student, teacher, and family to reach their fullest potential. First and foremost, I am a teacher teaching is the heart of who I am and the foundation of every decision I make. I believe that leadership begins with service, and that true transformation happens when we grow together through learning, reflection, and action.
The IB Learner Profile guides everything we do at Sugar Hill. We strive to nurture students who are inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced, and reflective. These attributes prepare our Dragons not only for academic success, but also to become compassionate, globally minded citizens.
I am deeply grateful to be a Dragon—to serve alongside such dedicated educators, supportive families, and remarkable students who make Sugar Hill a place where excellence and kindness thrive every day. Together, we will continue to learn, lead, and grow the IB way.
With gratitude and pride,
Kim Calvin

Hello, I'm Tina Torres. Over the past 5 years, I have proudly served as the Professional Development Specialist and International Baccalaureate - Primary Years Program (IB-PYP) Coordinator at Sugar Hill Elementary. In my role, I support the school community by leading curriculum development, providing professional development for teachers, ensuring assessment practices align with IB standards, acting as a communication liaison, monitoring quality assurance, analyzing student data, and engaging with the community to promote IB PYP values and principles.
In the IB PYP, values such as inquiry encourage curiosity and deeper understanding, while action promotes responsible engagement for positive community impact. International-mindedness fosters cultural appreciation, holistic education addresses all aspects of student development, and lifelong learning skills are cultivated. Community collaboration, empathy, and critical thinking are key components of the IB PYP philosophy.
I am thrilled to continue my service at Sugar Hill Elementary and raise awareness of the IB-PYP program.
